Sadly C.R. Johnson passed away on the 24th February whilst skiing at Squaw Valley, California. According to a statement issued by the resort C.R. had fell through rocks before coming to a stop several hundred yards away whilst entering the resort's Light Towers. Ski patrol were on the scene within minutes but were unable to revive him.
C.R. Johnson has been a household name for years, and was known in recent years for his inspiring comeback to skiing after suffering a traumatic brain injury in December 2005. This injury had caused him to be put into a medical induced coma for ten days. Afterwards, C.R. had to re-learn even the most basic of motor functions such as swallowing and walking. He successfully managed to not only re-learn how to ski but to fight his way back up to the top of the skiing world. He managed to come in third place in the 2009 Red Bull Linecatcher contest.
Some of his other achievements include; bronze in the 2003 X-Games Superpipe, bronze in the 2001 X-Games Big Air, gold in the 2002 US Open Big Air, and many more.
C.R. Johnson was always, and will continue to always be, an inspiration to all skiers alike.
